Quality, management and innovation – the basis for the sustainable development

This is the name of the international research and practice conference dealing with quality - the most urgent topic for the economy of any state, which took place in Minsk, at the congress hall of the “Victoria” hotel on May 26-27, 2010.
Within the forum there was the continuation of the talks on the establishment of the conditions for free movement of goods at the common market of the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation which started at the conferences “Technical regulation – 2012” in March in Moscow and in May in Astana.
The organizers of the international research and practice conference in Minsk were Gosstandart of the Republic of Belarus, Belarus State Institute of standardization and certification and with the assistance and participation of several state administration bodies and organizations of Belarus as well as CIS and European countries.
More than 200 of key personnel of the state administration bodies, enterprises of different industrial sectors and service sector, educational and scientific institutions, and business took part in the open dialogue and discussions.
Also the delegations from the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, Rostechregulation, Gosstandart of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ukrainian quality association, Lithuanian department for standardization, French standards association and Technical Testing Institute of Pieshtyany of Slovak Republic, participated in the conference.
This forum had a very specific meaning for Belarus. It was conducted in the year that had been announced as the year of quality in the country. The works on improvement of technical rate setting, standardization, conformity assessment, system management taking into account international practices in order to increase quality and competitiveness of Byelorussian products, promoting its entering the external market, had a significant meaning in the republican activity plan for this year. It is symbolic that this year the results of the State program “Quality” will be summarized.
A very serious joint work aimed at implementing coordinated policy in the sphere of technical regulation within the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation is to be fulfilled in 2010. The creation of a new model for promoting of products at the common market based on integrated rules understandable for business and consumers requires careful studying of the experience of our countries, international and European practice, the alignment of the positions taking into consideration common economic interests.
These most important directions of the quality increase and product competitiveness, the use of innovation approaches for sustainable development of organizations, the elimination of technical obstacles in trade were considered during the plenary session and at the subject break-out sessions: “Technical regulations and standards – safety provision and innovation implementation. Technical regulation – 2012”, “Quality management, system management, innovations – the base for sustainable development”, “Metrological ensuring of quality, supervision and accreditation”.
